Active Assailant is a 2018 interactive media project created by eight students at Temple University. The video is designed to increase awareness in active assailant situations. The film depicts an active shooter situation in a university. Viewers are encouraged to make certain decisions for the characters by selecting options that appear on screen.
Follow our two main characters, Dan and Holly in their attempt to survive this active assailant situation. Holly is a sophomore at Temple University, who is caught in the middle of saving herself and her best friend Lexi. Dan is a senior at Temple University and is also caught between the conflict of saving himself or his girlfriend Lexi. Throughout this journey of these two characters, we find ourselves compelled and intrigued by their bravery to survive. These two determined individuals express the importance of run, hide, fight, in an active shooter event. In correspondence with Temple Universities Emergency Management office, this video was created as a PSA awareness video to give the viewers the tools to be prepared. Sarah J. Powell, the Director of Emergency Management, gives the viewers insight on each scenario and helps with understanding their choices.
